Case5: RedYouthBusiness Spain –Mentoring for young entrepreneurs (Spain) YBS is a foundation that promotes youth entrepreneurship through training, access to financing, and a voluntary business mentoring programme. In this network, experienced entrepreneurs and professionals mentor young people starting businesses for approximately one year. Sustainability: The YBS Network operates in multiple autonomous communities through local partners and has managed to consolidate more than 100 active mentoring relationships at any given time. It sustains the programme by continuously recruiting mentors with business experience (many of them former executives or retired entrepreneurs who find mentoring a way to contribute). Almost half of the mentors have their own active businesses, which keeps them up to date and useful to their mentees. The programme has institutionalised a culture of quarterly evaluations and supervision of the pairs, which helps to resolve problems early and maintain commitment.
