From 15 to 21 June, Kheiron organised a series of in-person workshops in Spain led by German artist and performer Ken Yamamoto.
The workshops focused on creative writing, text development, performance, voice, and stage presence, offering participants the opportunity to explore personal expression through poetry, spoken word, sound, and live performance.
Throughout the sessions, participants worked on individual and collaborative writing exercises, experimenting with rhythm, voice, pauses, and oral expression in a supportive and creative environment. The activities encouraged young people to reflect on their experiences, emotions, memories, and aspirations while transforming their ideas into personal texts, poems, song lyrics, or short performative pieces.
Special attention was given to the realities of young people growing up in rural or more isolated contexts, highlighting the importance of creating spaces where diverse voices, perspectives, and personal stories can be heard and valued.
The workshops also aimed to strengthen participants’ confidence in public expression and communication through artistic and participatory methodologies. Among the learning objectives were fostering personal expression, exploring voice and rhythm, reflecting on personal experiences, and gaining confidence when sharing texts aloud.
Ken Yamamoto, a Berlin-based poet and performer, works at the intersection of literature, sound, and performance, creating live poetic formats that combine poetry, music, and spoken voice.
These workshops are part of the broader activities of the KHEIRON project, which promotes social mentoring, inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and creative participation through innovative educational and artistic approaches.
