On February 4, the Greek partners of the European project KHEIRON organised the first training session for new mentors interested in joining the initiative and supporting intergenerational social mentoring in rural communities.

The session introduced participants to the objectives of KHEIRON, the mentoring methodology developed collaboratively by partners from Spain, Greece, and Germany, and the key principles of inclusive and digital mentoring.

Throughout the training, mentors explored topics such as empathetic communication, active listening, digital literacy and online safety, inclusion and diversity, and strategies to support young people in their educational and personal development. Practical activities and collaborative discussions also encouraged participants to reflect on the role of mentoring in strengthening social cohesion and creating opportunities in rural areas.

The training combined both theoretical and practical approaches, helping mentors prepare for the upcoming pilot phase of the project. During this next stage, mentoring activities will be implemented in different rural contexts, fostering meaningful connections between generations and promoting learning, empowerment, and community engagement.

With these sessions, the KHEIRON consortium continues advancing its mission to build sustainable mentoring networks and support more inclusive and connected rural communities across Europe.
