On September 18 and 25, Fundación AYO launched the initial training sessions for new mentors interested in joining the European project KHEIRON, an initiative co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme that promotes intergenerational social mentoring in rural areas.
During these two sessions, participants had the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the project’s objectives, the mentoring methodology being jointly developed by partners from Spain, Greece, and Germany, and the key principles for supporting young people in their educational and personal development.
The training combined both theoretical and practical activities, covering topics such as empathetic communication, the role of the mentor, inclusion and diversity in mentoring, and the use of digital tools for online mentoring. Participants also had the chance to share experiences, concerns, and motivations in a participatory and welcoming environment.
These sessions represent the first step in the process of integrating new mentors into the project, who will soon take part in the pilot phase of KHEIRON. During this stage, mentoring activities will be implemented in different rural contexts, contributing to the personal and social development of young people and adults through educational support.
Through this training, Fundación AYO and the European KHEIRON consortium continue advancing their commitment to strengthening social mentoring networks and creating real opportunities for learning and social cohesion in rural European communities.
