Some of the consequences that these unconscious biases can have on the person on whom they fall may be: Demotivation : feeling undervalued or misunderstood can lead to loss of confidence. Opportunity gaps : less access to projects, networks and promotion. Impostor syndrome : reinforcement of doubts about one's own professional worth. In intergenerational and cross-cultural mentoring, unconscious gender bias can go unnoticed but have a profound and lasting effect on the career trajectory. Acknowledging it, structuring the relationship and diversifying points of view are key steps to ensure that all mentees (regardless of gender, generation or culture) receive fair and nurturing guidance. 10
